What's involved with this role:

Triumph Consultants are looking for an experienced Area Planning Manager for their client to lead the team and deliver a high-quality development management service. You will manage planning applications, provide professional advice and support the effective delivery of planning services across the area. Contract is for 6 months in Shrewsbury, SY2 6ND.

Pay Rate: £360.00  per day PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday
Contract length: 6 months
Location: Shrewsbury, SY2 6ND
Hybrid working available for this role. 

Key requirements

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in planning, development or a related discipline.
  • Significant senior planning or management experience, ideally within a local authority.
  • Extensive knowledge of development management, planning legislation and regulatory processes.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience managing professional teams and resources.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, negotiation and decision-making skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of planning and business support staff, monitoring performance, development and workloads.
  • Manage complex planning applications and provide senior professional planning advice to Members, applicants and stakeholders.
  • Lead the presentation of applications to planning committees, including preparing reports and presenting evidence at inquiries, appeals and hearings.
  • Deputise for the Planning and Development Services Manager and support the delivery of an effective and consistent planning service.
  • Lead and contribute to strategic projects and service improvements, working with internal and external partners to deliver key outcomes.
