Enhanced DBS required for this role

Hybrid - 4 days per week in office, 1-day per week completing administrative duties from home.

A Work Placement Coordinator is needed to source work placement opportunities for Traineeships, T-Level industrial placements and school/college/university requests.

The post will involve liaising with training providers or educational establishments to fill vacancies sourced and acting as the link person between the completion of a Traineeship/Industrial placement/work experience and progression into Apprenticeship opportunities where employment has been secured.

Key responsibilities:

  • Regularly meet with the HR recruitment nominees to identify opportunities for Traineeship, T-Levels opportunities to be utilised.
  • Contact departments directly where vacancies are known (from workforce data reports) to ask them to consider the use of Traineeships, T-Levels.
  • Respond to school/college/university requests for work experience opportunities as the co-ordinator and liaison person with those schools/colleges/universities.
  • Liaise with training providers or educational establishments to fill vacancies sourced and with managers to ensure fairness of opportunity is maintained during interview processes.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the completion of risk assessments and mitigation actions are completed prior to start of placement.
  • Ensure provision of mandatory training is considered and completed within first week of candidate starting placement.
  • Immediately raise any concerns regarding welfare, safety or safeguarding of learners to the designated safeguarding lead.
  • Contact candidates on day 5 of their placement to ensure they have settled into their placement without concerns and are happy/settled into their placement.
  • Host discussions with the learner and line manager/mentor one week prior to completion of programme to action next steps for their progression.
  • Ensure all candidates are provided with an employer reference and contact details of line manager/mentor to use when applying for future opportunities as a minimum outcome.
  • Maintain database of destination data for future reference by the apprenticeship team as and when required.

Qualifications:

  • Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults Level 2 (or willing to complete within 10 days of starting in role).
  • English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE A-C or 4-9.

Experience:

  • Recent experience in providing careers advice or information, advice, and guidance in relation to educational programmes such as Traineeships, T-Level or Apprenticeships.
  • Experience of supporting line managers/mentors in similar education/workplace environments.
  • Experience of providing pastoral care for persons aged 16-24 in educational establishments or during work-based learning programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience in providing pastoral care to ensure positive outcomes for learners.

Skills/Technical skills:

  • Exceptional abilities to co-ordinate and remain focused on the wider picture to ensure positive experiences and outcomes for all learners.
  • Ability to encourage and motivate people.
  • Demonstrable ability to effectively manage varied needs of learners and flexibility to respond as best appropriately within short timescales.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify learning needs and adapt learning practices to support learners needs.
  • Good record keeping skills and attention to detail.
  • Efficient time management and ability to plan.
  • Ability to communicate with and influence others to build positive relationships.
  • Efficient IT Skills across Microsoft office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams).
