To provide comprehensive and proactive Business Support to the Tuition Service. Support the effective and efficient delivery of the Education Tuition Service for Children and Young People of statutory school age who are unable to attend school due to their medical needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the effective and efficient delivery of the Tuition Service, including coordination, administration and collation of information in line with statutory guidance, and data reporting requirements.
  • Provide high-quality confidential support in relation to coordination, administration, and implementation of all aspects of the Tuition Service work.
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders and customers including Parents/Carers, Schools, Finance, HR, and other professionals, and issuing high-quality written correspondence in line with statutory and service requirements.
  • Responsible for information management, including creating, maintaining and updating documentation on shared systems, with due regard to data management and consent protocols, and data security. Building surveys, using online platforms (e.g., Forms) as required by the Tuition Service.
  • Development and maintenance of Excel (or similar) workbooks/spreadsheets to track activities and enable planning, recording and impact analysis against for e.g., statutory deadlines.
  • Analysis and synthesis of data as required by the Tuition Service to produce draft reports on business functions and processes, with recommendations.
  • Proofreading and formatting professional reports, recording these on the required systems, extending/maintaining Service data management on centralised systems and be a resource for all service members in this regard.
  • Production of marketing materials as requested, to manage and co-ordinate the administration of the Tuition Service, to be responsible for the input of the service offer onto the Can-do website: this includes the production of relevant materials, and the promotion of activities across Bracknell Forest.
  • Develop systems to audit the resources and equipment of the service, and to undertake ordering and invoicing activity on behalf of the Service.
  • Monitor the expenditure of the tuition service and report on this appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with other Business Support Officers to integrate and develop processes and systems, and to contribute towards training and developing an efficient and effective administrative and business support system within the Tuition Service and broader.
  • Provide effective and efficient administrative support: taking and distributing high-quality minutes for internal and external meetings; telephone and email correspondence as the first point of contact with the Tuition Service; and providing diary management support for service members as required.

Qualifications:

  1. Qualification in Business Administration NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  2. Educated to a minimum GCSE standard, including English and Mathematics at Grade C or above (or equivalent).

 

Skills & Experience:

  1. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  2. Understanding of and commitment to the requirements of safeguarding children, young people, vulnerable adults and promoting their welfare.
  3. Experience of working within an education setting and knowledge of how schools’ function.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently both orally and in writing, with officers at all levels in the Council, plus external partners and stakeholders including parents, carers, schools and other professionals.
  5. Able to take a proactive and creative approach to business management and problem solving.
  6. Excellent time management and organisational skills, with experience of working in a fast-paced environment and prioritising to meet deadlines and targets.
  7. Ability to work flexibly, and as part of a team, and to assist other staff and management to meet deadlines and targets.
  8. Discrete and experienced in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  9. ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g., G Suite).
