Temporary Technical Support Officer – Admin & Clerical

The post-holder will provide administrative support for the Council's Business Support Team for Children's Social Care.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivering complex, routine, and emergency tasks against the technical administrative standards
  • Deliver a skilled and flexible technical administration support service across the directorates
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for meeting tight deadlines
  • Prioritise tasks assigned and escalating any gaps in resourcing to Technical Support Supervisor/Technical Support Co-Ordinator
  • Escalate any operational issues to Technical Support Supervisor /Technical Support Co-Ordinator and/or operational Service Manager
  • Resolve complex financial queries (including payment enquiries) and ensure appropriate financial controls are in place
  • Ensure compliance with Financial Regulations with respect to budget commitments and payments (including any petty cash, voucher, or prepaid card system)
  • Complete/support inputting of service packages onto case management systems
  • Support internal budget commitment authorisation processes to ensure effective delivery of supplier services

Experience & Knowledge / Technical skills

  • Minimum 5 GCSE level pass including maths and English, or equivalent
  • Experience of supporting a multi-disciplinary teams with comprehensive technical administration services (including meeting arrangements, minute taking, and database/system administration)
  • Experience of prioritising high volumes of work effectively and accurately, and to deal with routine matters on own initiative within deadlines
  • An understanding of case/data management systems and of Business Improvement (BID) and its implications for the wider team

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Good verbal and written communication and a genuine desire to help people
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with clients, senior colleagues and Members of the Council.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with members of the public in a variety of situations
  • Ability to manage high volumes of work effectively and accurately, and to deal with routine matters on own initiative within deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team to deliver the best outcomes for customers; deliver team aims and objectives
  • Ability to make independent decision and identify when to refer complex enquiries to relevant specialists
  • Excellent ICT skills including Word, Excel and Google Docs, Ability to use financial systems i.e. OracleGood ICT skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good administrative and organisation skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and meet the demands of the service
  • Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment
