Full Job Title: Temporary Support Officer – Independent Transport Needs

To support the Independent Travel Needs Assessor in the carrying out of independent needs assessments.

This will include supporting the carrying out of assessments, auditing and assisting in the promotion of sustainable travel and transport.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development of assisted transport services to efficiently meet the identified needs of individuals.
  • To support in the delivery of the Independent Travel Training programme including:
    • Co-ordinate, support and identify appropriate level of assisted transport provision and identify any gaps in meeting user needs.
    • Assist in the development of training materials and resources
    • Assist in Research and Publicity
    • Support in administration of financial information
    • Monitoring and reporting
  • Support in completing transport needs assessments for assisted transport users and risk assessments where necessary
  • Develop and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders including Families, Carers, Education, Social and NHS and other professionals.
  • Assist in the support and implementation of the Council’s Home to School and Adult Transport polices.

 

Specific Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  1. Qualification in Education/Social Care/Caring - desirable
  2. Experience of working with children and adults with disabilities.
  3. Understanding of Education Act 1996 and its relevance to this - desirable
  4. Understanding of SEND, Adult Social Care and Safeguarding
  5. Experience of working with multi agency professionals, including NHS, Social Workers, Head Teachers etc. - desirable
  6. Good communication skills
  7. ICT Skills: IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite)
