Full Job Title: Temporary Senior Housing Options Officer – Housing Support

Predominantly you will be working from home but may be required to participate in office cover subject to business needs .

Working in the Specialist Early Intervention & Prevention Team, you will supervise a small team of officers ensuring that day to day core statutory homeless duties is met and a comprehensive housing advice service is provided to vulnerable homeless households.

You will ensure clients’ housing requirements are in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Part7 Housing Act 1996 (as amended), Equality Act 2010, Homelessness (Suitability of Accommodation) (England) Order 2012), and all other relevant legislation, are being correctly assessed in line with legal duties.

You will achieve this by ensuring in depth knowledge of Housing and Homeless Legislation, including Landlord and Tenant, eviction proceedings Children’s Act and Care Act and an understanding of benefits/welfare system across the team.

In this role, you will be providing support and casework management assistance to Homeless Intervention Officers. The post requires leadership and a confident engaging and a diplomatic communicator to ensure the service can meet the daily demands of clients who are homeless, threatened with homelessness or in need of housing advice.

In addition, you will be providing comprehensive and specialist housing advice service to members of the public. This will involve Direct case oversight ensuring tight statutory deadlines are met and that best practice is instilled in day-to-day case work, whilst managing performance and attendance in line with HR processes.

You will be required to work across the Central Bedfordshire area therefore you will also need to have access to a vehicle to occasionally drive to various locations.

 

Specific Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  1. Degree or equivalent qualification or evidence of in depth experience of the key job responsibilities
  2. Direct experience of housing advice and homelessness legislation related work.
  3. Proven experience of the successful delivery of customer care in a complex environment.
  4. Sufficient to be able to undertake day to day related activities with a minimum of supervision.
  5. Demonstrable working knowledge of housing management legislation and ability to interpret legislation into understandable guidelines
  6. Demonstrable experience of developing and leading successful strategies / plans / initiatives relating to a statutory tenant involvement service
  7. Proven experience of the successful delivery of customer care in a complex environment.
  8. Sufficient to be able to undertake day to day related activities with a minimum of supervision.
  9. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages
