Temporary Operational Supervisor – Catering Services

An Operational Supervisor is needed to provide effective supervision and management of catering operations in a designated multi-sited area, covering school meals, breakfast clubs, corporate office catering, civic functions, and meals direct (meals on wheels).
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake regular visits to inspect locations to ensure cost controls and quality standards are being achieved, implement, and monitor any preventative or corrective action taken ensuring full compliance is achieved.
- Promote uptake of Universal Primary Free School Meals and Entitled Free School Meal delivery.
- Manage and monitor cash collection of income through online cashless catering solution.
- Use various software systems to administer payments of invoices, income collection, free school meal applications, reviewing facilities / equipment at sites etc.
- Manage correct stock levels of food, light equipment, and heavy equipment in catering units.
- Monitor and report costs and delegated budgets e.g., cleaning materials, light equipment, heavy equipment, and capital funding etc.
- Ensure customer complaints are dealt with quickly and satisfactorily.
- Undertake risk assessments within the designated catering units and check all catering equipment and report faults where necessary.
- Produce business cases for procurement purposes.
- Organise, chair and minute meetings

Qualifications/Knowledge:
- Relevant Level 4 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example, Level 4 Certificate or Diploma in Business Management.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or ability to achieve within 1 month of appointment.
- Basic Health and Safety Certificate or ability to achieve within 1 month of appointment.
- Basic Certificate in Supervisory Skills or ability to achieve within a timescale to be agreed.
- Knowledge of undertaking training and staff development.
Experience/Skills:
- Relevant experience of staff management.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of staff and clients.
- Ability to encourage initiative and training for personal development
