Temporary Nursery Assistant-Early Years

The purpose of the role is to provide care to pre-school children and attend to their daily physical and social-emotional needs and carry out activities to support their development.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment for the children.
- Adhere to CHILDCARE’S Policies and Procedures.
- Contribute to planning and implement a quality curriculum that encompasses high quality childcare practice within a framework of equal opportunities.
- Liaise with other professionals and agencies to ensure each child achieves their maximum potential.
- Work within National Legislation and adopted guidance on good practice within childcare settings.
- Work in partnership with parents/carers encouraging links with the wider community.
- Work effectively and co-operatively as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the nursery, actively participate in the consultation process, attend staff/team meetings and training days within normal working hours
- Supervise and Monitor Children
- Organise Daily Activities
- Assist setting out materials and equipment for children's activities and tidying up afterwards.
- Accompany staff members taking groups of children on visits and outings.
- Change and rinse out soiled clothes and assist children in toileting.
- Keep and Update Records.
- Prepare Snacks and Meals.

Experience & Knowledge / Technical skills
- NVQ 2 or equivalent
- Level 2 in childcare.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a childcare setting.
- A good understanding of children's physical, social, intellectual and emotional development.
- Experience of working in a childcare setting throughout the 0-5 years range
Skills & Abilities
- Good communication skills with the ability to communicate with children
- An ability to organise and prioritise work
- Ability to be energetic as well as patient, tolerant and resilient.
- Ability to be understanding and encouraging
