Temporary Library Services Assistant/Admin x 2

The purpose of the role is to provide friendly, helpful and inclusive library services to customers. Maintain the library in a safe and attractive manner, ensuring smooth running of services and accessibility by customers and staff.
Key responsibilities:
- Assisting customers in person, via email and on the telephone, providing an efficient and friendly service, referring customers to other staff or other sources of information as appropriate.
- Effectively promoting the library services and encouraging use
- Ensuring effective issue and return of library stock and, where possible, assisting customers in the use of self-service machines.
- Daily cash handling, including the use of tills.
- Assisting new customers in joining the library.
- Undertaking stock work including processing new books, collection management reports, shelf tidying and displays
- Maintaining the appearance of the library and reporting faults in line with Council policy and health and safety regulations, Supporting facilities management to open and close libraries where necessary.
- Assisting in the planning, promotion and delivery of library events, including storytelling, children’s activities and other reading promotional initiatives.
- Using and promoting ICT services, supporting and advising customers as needed.
- Assisting the Customer Services Officer in the daily recording of performance information and ensuring this is timely and accurate.
- Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and all employees are required to act in such a way that at all times safeguards the health and well being of children and vulnerable adults.
- Carry out duties with due regard to the Council’s Customer Care, Equal Opportunities, Information Governance, Data Protection and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of this post.

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
