Temporary Housing Officer - Accommodation & Allocations

The purpose of this role is to support the customer into the most suitable accommodation for their needs. This role will understand what is available and what is suitable and be aware that a sustainable service needs to ensure that the availability of properties is at least equal to the rate of people needing emergency temporary accommodation.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting customers to pay their rent and dealing with rent arrears.
- Dealing with tenancy issues either about the property or complaints made about the tenants (e.g. anti-social behaviour).
- Arranging repairs for tenants and completing property inspections as necessary.
- Arranging repairs for tenants.
- Setting up and managing accounts with the Finance Team.
- Issuing landlord's consent for works, and deeds of variation as required under lease terms.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- good understanding of all relevant legislation relating to the temporary housing of homeless people, and of tenancy legislation
- Understand the customers' needs and translate them into finding the right accommodation
- Excellent people skills with the ability to resolve conflict, but have a sympathetic, friendly and empathetic manner to be able to understand the situations of our customers.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and have an attention to detail
- The ability to learn quickly and to understand and work with new concepts
- Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose, principles, value steps and measures around the role.
- Some experience of working in a housing management.
- ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
