The post-holder will provide a practical or advisory service to supervise the delivery of an effective cross functional business delivery service.


Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the daily running of a business delivery function to support the effective delivery of the services to the council.
  • Supervise and develop others within assigned function/service areas including managing performance, appraisals, discipline and grievance, absence management.
  • Supervise, or carry out services and provide information in accordance with organisational procedures and guidelines, ensuring clarity of performance indicators and that business targets are met.
  • Organise, develop and motivate employees including recruitment and selection, induction of new staff, or sharing own areas of expertise and knowledge within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and customers to achieve objectives and deliver high performance outcomes.
  • Provide advice and guidance to internal and external customers / members of the public on processes and enquiries. Relationship Management & Networking
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues and customers internally and externally to provide high levels of customer services and gather ideas and good practice examples that can be built upon for the service.
  • Respond to allocated work independently and refer more complex problems to a more senior manager. Financial & Resource Management
  • Ensure compliance with the Council’s financial and management control policies and criteria.

Experience & Knowledge / Technical skills

  • Experienced in the application of business practices, plus some theoretical knowledge gained from relevant experience and formal training.
  • Expert administrator, authoritative on procedures of some complexity and variety with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of particular areas.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively prioritise competing demands and workload
  • Proven ability of working as a Team member
  • Strong ICT skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
