To provide information to the public in response to requests under the Freedom of Information Act, Environmental Information Regulations and Data Protection Act.

  • Key responsibilities:
  • Work with colleagues to ensure that responses are provided to requests for information in compliance with FOIA/EIR, including meeting quality requirements and statutory response time limits.
  • Assist in ensuring the Council complies with the DPA and to draft and implement policies and procedures.
  • Co-ordinate and monitor subject access requests under the DPA.
  • Be the first point of contact for public queries in respect of DPA and FOIA matters.

  • Detailed knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Environmental Information Regulations, the Data Protection Act 2018 and Regulations and their application to local authorities.
  • Experience of working with colleagues across a complex organisation such as a local authority to ensure that responses are provided to requests for information in compliance with FOIA/EIR, including meeting quality requirements and statutory response time limits.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in order to convey both information and complex legal reasoning effectively to members of the public.
  • Strong IT skills and experience of working with Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, as well as databases and case management systems.
