Full Job Title: Temporary Executive PA/Administrator – People

The candidate will be working on a hybrid basis 2 days a week in the office and 3 days at home, this can be altered by the hiring manager once employment has commenced.

The candidate will need to be able to take minutes at meetings, and provide complex diary management. Some knowledge of dealing with Grievances is required and the candidate will need to be able to work under their own initiative and be able work well to deadlines.

You will be expected to have good organisational skills and be able to use IT effectively in implementing tasks.


Specific Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  1. Qualifications:
    1. A secretarial diploma or equivalent business administration qualification
    2. RSA Stage III typing certificate or Word Advanced (ECDL) or equivalent
    3. ECDL qualification or equivalent
  2. Experience:
    1. Minimum of 18 months recent PA/administration experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation
    2. Experience of dealing with a complex workload with conflicting deadlines
    3. Experience of dealing with confidential information
  3. Detailed knowledge of Local Government
  4. Detailed knowledge of the role and function of the Local Authority, in particular the directorate within which the post in based
  5. Skills & Abilities:
    1. Ability to take and produce accurate notes/minutes at formal meetings
    2. Ability to maintain a good working knowledge current to the Senior Leadership Team /Corporate Leadership Team / Elected Members’ responsibility
    3. Ability to liaise, negotiate and maintain working relationships with both internal and external customers at all levels within the Council including Elected Members and MPs
    4. Ability to deal diplomatically with complex or sensitive issues
    5. Ability to ensure the Council is appropriately represented at all times
    6. Ability to work without supervision using own initiative
    7. Ability to use time management and organisational skills to multi-task at any given time for the production of accurate work under pressure
  6. ICT Skills: Excellent IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite)
