Temporary Communications & Marketing Officer - PR

Hybrid working – 4 days remote / 1 day in the office
On call and weekend working (2 weekends per month)
The post holder will work at events on a rota basis to support Air Festival and Christmas Tree Wonderland
To be responsible for the development and delivery of promotional and advertising activities for events. The post holder will enable the effective delivery of communications, reputation management and marketing function, devising and delivering all required aspects of issues management, media relations, social media, web content management, email marketing and digital content.
Key responsibilities:
Proactively devise communications and implement communications activities.
- Undertake Duty News Office rota cover, acting as a first point of contact for and seeing through to resolution incoming media enquiries.
- Draft press statements on behalf of the council leadership team for positive and negative issues.
- Prepare creatively packaged, excellently written and carefully targeted communications.
- Develop and deliver marketing activity for priority issues.
- Prepare, structure, publish and manage web content as needed.
- Specify and produce digital content as needed, including web and social media content and undertaking email marketing.

- Relevant degree BA (Hons) Public Relations/Communications/Journalism/ Marketing / Digital Communications / English (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrable experience of devising and delivering full marketing campaigns leading to behaviour change resulting in cost reduction or income generation.
- Ability to prepare briefs for marketing / PR projects including branding projects and websites.
- Skilled at dealing with the media within the agreed guidelines on a day to day basis with a wide range of issues.
- Experience of using social media as part of both reputation management and proactive PR campaigns.
- Confident using IT platforms relevant to the role, such as social media management systems, email marketing software, Canva (or equivalent), Powtoon (or equivalent), media management tools, imovie, digital asset management, and website CMS software including WordPress.
