Temporary Clean Environment Operative – Manual Labour

The purpose of the role is to carry out a variety of environmental clean up operations including the manual removal of litter, fly tipping, fly posting and graffiti.
Working on your own or in a small team using manual or mechanical methods to clean all pathways, verges, roads, shrubbed / grassed areas, parks and other public open spaces of litter, dog fouling, fly tipping, fly posting, graffiti and other wastes.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out difficult waste removal duties including building and private property clearance and handling of hazardous materials including cement / asbestos sheeting. SCP 6 will be paid whilst carrying out these duties.
- Maintain high levels of productivity.
- Work with people carrying out community service.
- Work with new technologies including data transfer equipment, global positioning systems, handheld computers etc.
- Required to assist on Parks, Refuse Collection and other sections if required.
- Take part in bank holiday, evening and weekend overtime rotas if required.
- To adhere to all health and safety legislation, regulations and requirements including locally agreed procedures, particularly the acting as a reversing assistants.
- To undertake, attend and pass any training/instruction required to competently carry out the duties of the post.

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Physically fit.
Prepared to work in all weather conditions.
