Saturdays are paid at 1.5 x pay and are compulsory and Sundays at 2 x pay which are voluntary.

Applicants must have experience in parking enforcement. Experienced officers are really needed who are able to work under their own initiative after initial training. Enforcing parking regulations in Borough car parks and County Highways.

To assist customers and to enforce Traffic Regulation Orders.

  • To patrol on- and off-street parking restrictions and enforce the provisions of relevant Traffic Regulation Orders.
  • To issue Penalty Charge Notices for contraventions of Traffic Regulation Orders.
  • To operate the car parks central control and monitoring system.
  • To report parking equipment faults and rectify where possible.
  • To inspect, monitor and report on the general state and cleanliness of the parking places, equipment, lifts, public toilets, and the town centre environment.
  • To advise and assist the public regarding parking facilities and other associated matters.
  • To handle money in accordance with set procedures.
  • To provide members of the public with information on the facilities and activities available in the local area.


Specific Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  1. Qualifications:
    1. City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 qualification in Parking Enforcement or willingness to work towards qualification
    2. Compulsory Basic Training Certificate for motorcycles and mopeds or willingness to work towards certificate
  2. Experience of working with the public or in a customer focussed environment
  3. Experience of dealing effectively with difficult customers
  4. Experience of working as a Civil Enforcement Officer (or Parking Attendant)
  5. Good written communication skills with ability to maintain clear and accurate written records and paperwork
  6. Ability to successfully diffuse difficult situations and remain calm
  7. Flexibility to accommodate early start and late finish times and available to work Saturdays
  8. Available to work on public holidays as required
  9. IT skills including Microsoft packages
