Temporary Caretaker-Facilities Management

The post-holder will carry out management, cleaning and other estate duties.
Key responsibilities:
- Sweep and clean all internal and external areas on a scheduled and a reactive basis, including the safe use of appropriate equipment, chemicals, and materials.
- Remove fly-tipping, lumber or other bulky items, from communal areas and dwellings, to an appropriate area, including loading vehicles and if appropriate, driving to a disposal site.
- Request and monitor repairs to communal areas, using appropriate means or as identified by managers or supervisors
- Identify and report any welfare or safeguarding concerns about vulnerable residents
- Identify and report nuisance, anti-social behaviour or criminal behaviour and provide evidence to support enforcement action
- Complete daily management control information and other documentation as required.
- Keep records of complaints made by tenants and reporting cases of fire, burglary, flood and other important incidents to the Area Office/Housing Department as required.
- Collect keys when flats are vacated and visiting these properties periodically while they are vacant.
- Report contravening of tenancy regulations by tenants.
- Report abandoned vehicles/illegal parking on the estates and liaising with Estate Service Officers and contractors as necessary.
- Maintain the lighting of communal areas.
- Keep keys for communal parts, meter cupboard, vacant dwellings, vacant pram sheds, etc.
- Take appropriate action in respect of repairs or damage in cases of emergency, including the calling out of police, fire and ambulance services, etc., during normal working hours.
- Custody of an overall responsibility for the estate stores, tools, plant and equipment

- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Skills & Abilities

- Ability to deal with complaints of disrepair
- Ability to react and deal with emergency situations, eg fire, flood and lift breakdowns
