What's involved with this role:

Full Job Title: Temporary Caretaker – Assets & Property

Reference no: Dorset 5209366

This role is initially for 3 months but may be extended until 6 months.

If time period is extended, there will be an element of earlier starts and later finishes. Rota to be agreed.

To provide a Facilities Management service across all operational buildings.

  • Assist with the security and safety of all operational buildings. Including arrangements for unlocking and locking of buildings by operating within an early and late duty rota. Respond to out of hours call outs as appropriate.
  • Assist with arrangements during emergency evacuations, weekly fire alarm tests, twice yearly evacuation drills. legionella testing,
  • Assist with Health and Safety inspections and statutory compliance monitoring, including undertaking periodic legionella and other compliance related testing across the operational estate.
  • Assist with the issue of ID Badges or other secure access systems.
  • Assist with incoming and outgoing mail including delivery arrangements to all operational buildings.
  • Ensure minor repairs and maintenance of premises are undertaken in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Assist with office removals and other furniture moves.

 

Specific Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  1. NVQ 3 (or equivalent) in a general building skill and/or Certificate of Health & Safety (or significant relevant experience).
  2. Knowledge & Experience:
    1. Experience in supporting the management of building maintenance requirements in a public access, educational or community building.
    2. Experience of supporting the management of external contractors to ensure that service specifications are met.
    3. Knowledge of appropriate legislation and their application in the workplace such as 1974 Health & Safety at Work Act, Manual Handling of Loads and direct experience of undertaking effective risk assessment and taking appropriate follow-on action.
    4. A good understanding of security and fire detection systems and able to carry out regular tests in accordance with Health & Safety Guidelines.
  3. Skills & Abilities:
    1. A good standard of written English & Maths so that written records can be kept, resources can be ordered, and the costs of materials can be accurately estimated
    2. Evidence of a range of skills, such as plumbing, carpentry etc, to ensure basic repairs can be carried out to a high standard, on a day to day basis.
    3. Ability to undertake redecoration works; including preparation, painting & decorating.
    4. An ability to prioritise work, assessing levels of risk, timescales, weather, seasons, availability of equipment and resources etc, to ensure work is carried out in a timely and organised manner.
    5. The ability to work under pressure, with a willingness to work flexibly and meet the changing needs of the environment and the organisation.
    6. To be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, keep well written records and logs, write short reports and use IT systems to send and receive information (outlook and excel in particular).
  4. ICT Skills: IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite)
