To provide professional caretaking services across a range of premises   

Key Responsibilities: 


  • To ensure the security of the premises and grounds is maintained, carrying out routine security checks as and when necessary and imposing strict security controls, in accordance with instructions, when directed to do so 
  • To open and close premises on County Hall Campus and other locations acting as key holder on occasion, controlling and operating heating and lighting equipment in accordance with instructions where necessary 
  • To conduct a range of routine statutory compliance checks relating to water and fire risk including fire detection system, appliances, fire doors, access control and emergency lighting, recording the results and organising any required remedial works reliably and accurately 
  • To carry out audits reliably and accurately on others that are conducting routine statutory compliance checks, record findings and report any discrepancies 
  • To supervise and assist visiting works contractors in accordance with Contractor Management policy and protocols 
  • To triage maintenance work that has been identified reporting all repairs and maintenance work required beyond the competence of the post holder through the appropriate route 
  • To undertake minor repairs and maintenance of the buildings and their surroundings.  To include but not be limited to the routine replacement of lamps, tubes and ancillary equipment, decorating, joinery, brick laying, plumbing, carpet fitting grounds work and minor electrical works 
  • To immediately clean, clear away or zone-off hazard areas 
  • To monitor and report on the quality of cleaning and grounds maintenance carried out by contractors as defined in the relevant specification 
  • To carry out cleaning and grounds maintenance duties as required in accordance with instructions
