Full Job Title: Temporary Brokerage Officer – Social Care

Responsible for providing a Brokerage/Placement Service to ensure the effective purchasing of care arrangements as detailed in agreed authorised care packages from needs led assessments
Maintain detailed records and systems for monitoring vacancies, allocations and placements across Adult Social Care
Negotiate fees in conjunction with advice and support from the Contracts Team, Finance, Senior Brokerage Officer and Contracts & Inspection Service Manager and Head of Service. Duties include:
- Negotiate fees when purchasing residential and nursing care placements including respite care in accordance with the stated needs as outlined on the Service User’s Care Plan making effective use of the West London select list (APC Scheme).
- Use the Care Funding Calculator tool where appropriate for new high cost specialist residential care placements.
- Ensure that block Contracts are utilised to their optimum levels with void beds kept
- to a minimum.
- Purchase homecare service packages from care agencies in accordance with agreed assessed need and panel decisions by making effective use of the West London Framework Agreement.
- Arrange care services within specified timeframes to prevent delayed hospital discharges.
- Maintain detailed records and systems for monitoring vacancies, allocations and placements across Adult Social Care services
- Arrange transport/Ambulance services if requested by Care managers when authorised by Panel.
- Maintain effective booking systems for respite care, permanent placements for residential and nursing, home care packages and other services.

- Experienced in financial transactions and negotiating financial care packages
- Minimum one years experience in working in a Social Care setting
- Fully proficient at using IT systems, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office packages
