Temporary Administrator – Social Care

Hybrid role

To provide administrative and clerical support to the Safeguarding Division, including technical support and trouble-shooting of Microsoft packages/ICS. Applicants must have excellent minute taking skills and experience in a similar social care setting is desirable.

Key responsibilities:

  • Data Retrieval and collation of information to support multi-agency meetings.
  • Assist with referral taking and dealing with urgent referrals.
  • Complex diary management to arrange meetings.
  • Notification, consultation and invite process of these meetings to key agencies.
  • Set up conference rooms.
  • Attend and minute meetings with the ability to digest, understand and identify crucial information shared at Child Protection Conferences.
  • Respond appropriately and sensitively to angry and distressed members of the public and clients within the context of relevant procedures.

  • Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, orcontext and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  • Experience of producing accurate and detailed minutes of complex conferences/meetings to deadlines.
  • Experience of communicating with both the public and external agencies via all mediums (Telephone, email, written).
  • Experience of working with complex databases to update / log / store /share / manage information.
  • Social Care experience (desirable).


Skills & Knowledge

  • WP/Typing skills, including audio, minimum 55 wpm.
  • Accurate shorthand / speed writing [80 wpm].
  • Ability to evaluate significance and urgency of information received and take appropriate action.
  • Ability or experience of managing stress as a result of dealing with emotionally disturbing material and group dynamics.
  • Ability to maintain record systems and work in a methodical way, following processes and templates.
  • Some medical knowledge (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the Children Act (desirable).
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages particularly Teams, Word & Outlook).
