Full Job Title: Temporary Acquisitions & Data Manager – Children's Library Service

Hybrid role – libraries throughout Barnet and some home working.

To manage the Acquisitions Team and E-systems officer ensuring the effective provision of resources

To provide insight data to support the delivery of an efficient and effective library service, exploiting systems to record statistics and complete returns as required by CIPFA and other bodies

To advise and assist the Service Development Manager: Stock and Library Services with the development of policies for resources management ensuring optimum use in line with the principles of value for money.

To assist the Service Development Manager: Stock and Library Services in specifying IT requirements relating to stock provision, such as listing the acquisitions functions required in a new LMS.

To research and prepare recommendations for increased efficiency and effectiveness of stock procurement and ensure implementation as appropriate

To develop and deliver training in relevant subject areas as required


Specific Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  1. Good general standard of education equivalent to GCSE Grade A-C in English
  2. Knowledge & Experience:
    1. Experience of implementing and ensuring compliance with complex legislative requirements, including, safeguarding and health and safety.
    2. Experience of delivering excellent customer services
    3. Experience of monitoring budgets.
    4. Experience of recruiting, managing, motivating and developing teams to ensure excellent service delivery.
    5. Experience of managing volunteers.
    6. Experience of dealing with a range staffing issues including disciplinary, grievance, sickness and performance related issues
    7. Experience of undertaking risk assessments and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
    8. Knowledge of stock management and associated processes.
  3. ICT Skills: Experience of using Library management and finance IT systems.
