What's involved with this role:

A Standard DBS disclosure is required

Support the Self Directed Co-ordinator in processing new Self Direct Services. This will involve liaising with family and service users, Social Care Staff, Finance and Managed Account providers. The person will be expected to support all existing service users and their families.

To support the self-directed service to ensure Service Users and families can set up and manage a direct payment or a personal budget.

For example:

  • Managing their funds – include advising them on managed account providers
  • Ensuring they have insurance cover – if applicable
  • Support service users on becoming an employer – contract
  • To advise and support service users with accessing payroll services.
  • To support service users and individuals to commission providers.
  • To attend various meeting with the Co-ordinator around promoting the service in house and at quarterly peer support groups.

  2. Your recent UK working experience going back at least 5 years, or full employment history if you have been working for fewer years than this.
  3. Your availability to work either immediately, or at short notice.
  4. A Standard DBS Disclosure Check is required - please give details if you have one already in place. Taking out a Standard check is likely to be required as a precondition to starting the assignment. Your DBS must be either through us or be accompanied by a subscription to the DBS updating service.
  5. Educated to A Level standard with GCSE in English and Maths, or proven track record
  6. Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
    1. Experience of working in a Local Authority, Primary Care Trust or a Voluntary Organisation.
    2. Experience of providing information and advice to the public
    3. Computer literate and administratively self-supporting.
  7. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite)
