NPPV Level 2 Vetting 

To ensure the Payroll Software is maintained & support the Payroll Manager to produce accurate payrolls each month 

Key responsibilities: 


  • Assisting the Payroll Manager with System Administrator responsibilities in order to maintain the payroll software including: updating tables for amendments, creating new wage types, creating/updating new pay scales & associated system admin responsibilities.  
  • To investigate system problems and manage fault resolution in conjunction with iTrent users and the supplier.  
  • To ensure appropriate systems access is granted to users and maintained.  
  • To liaise with the software provider to ensure all legislative changes are applied accurately to the payroll system including testing & evaluating patches and upgrades before applying to the live system & reviewing all associated release notes from the software provider. Liaise with the Assistant (Processing) Manager to provide the changes/updates for the Payroll Team.  
  • Reconciliation of (LGPS) pension reports for both Forces including starters, leavers & the balancing is completed within the required timescales. Completing the upload process to the LGPS pension software and resolving any queries from both pensions department. 
  • Ensure all relevant data has been processed/uploaded including complex data uploads prior to processing and managing the uploads completed by the Payroll Assistant. Resolving issues with delays and quality of data received from other departments & resolving system problems.  
  • Responsible for the preparation and completion of the new starter upload process.  
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Payroll Manager ensure the increment process is completed on a monthly basis.  
  • Responsible for completing the monthly pension balancing process after run one across all six payrolls is accurate and any anomalies resolved before sign off.   
  • Responsible for assisting with complex overpayments covering more than one tax year and that the Year End Adjustments are applied in conjunction with the Payroll Provider and the HMRC figures are accurate and RTI compliant

  • Report writing experience using Business Objects  
  • Experience of supervising staff
