This role is responsible for a significant proportion (ie one major supplier contract or several smaller value contracts) of the day to day assurance activities required to deliver (and optimise) multiple 3rd party supplier contracts to approx. 40,000 officers and staff (including delivery of uniform, equipment and services), ensuring that these services comply with legislation, agreed assurance standards and KPIs.
Also, day to day management feeds into the MO11 wide reports that the Supplier Assurance Lead will present to key stakeholders. This role is responsible for managing supplier issues on day to day basis and knowing the contract(s) well enough to do this quickly and use levers when necessary. This role provides leadership to a team of up to 4 Business Assurance Junior Managers, and up to 10 indirect employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable to the Supplier Assurance Lead and be in contact with them via telephone/emanl on a daily basis and face to face on a weekly basis.
- Daily and weekly contact with key suppliers to monitor and manage contract performance against service level agreements and KPIs
- Weekly and daily contact with direct reports to understand performance and progress and issues.
- Improve services by contributing to service improvement/innovation activities in the supply chain.
- Measure performance against Service Level Agreements and KPIs and direct small team to deliver this in various service areas, by implementing and monitoring action or rectification plans where appropriate.
- Improve customer perceptions of services by building effective strategic relationships with departments and ensuring that they are kept informed and consulted on things that affect them.
- Key contributor to delivering continuous operational services to approx. 40,000 officers and staff across all business groups, ensuring that our service reflects their needs (including relevant kit, equipment and services) and standards of service are constantly improving
- Responsible for holding external suppliers to account for performance against KPIs and SLAs. Provide the genuine customer impact of any failures and ensure any service credits charged or action plans are in place.
- Embracing a culture of data driven decision making and innovation.
- Reducing risk of reputational damage to MPS through the proactive identification of risks across the directorate and implementation of risk mitigation strategy.

Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level / equivalent professional experience.
Experience:
- Experience of supplier performance management - measuring performance against KPIs and SLAs
- Some experience in a commercial or contractual setting to understand the commercial lifecycle and how levers can be used to optimise outcomes
- Experience of managing conflicts and issues
- Experience of building supplier partnerships
- Experience of tracking and managing team to deliver sub plans
Knowledge:
- Understanding of supplier management frameworks, key performance indicators and dashboards.
- Understanding of commercial contract management and how to leverage optimum partnerships.
- Understanding of operational policing requirements and how that translates into service delivery.
- Knowledge of business assurance activity including business continuity and managing risk.

- Knowledge on health and safety in the workplace.

- Data insights and visualisation skills (such as Power MI)
