This role is responsible for a significant proportion (ie one major supplier contract or several smaller value contracts) of the day to day assurance activities required to deliver (and optimise) multiple 3rd party supplier contracts to approx. 40,000 officers and staff (including delivery of uniform, equipment and services), ensuring that these services comply with legislation, agreed assurance standards and KPIs.

Also, day to day management feeds into the MO11 wide reports that the Supplier Assurance Lead will present to key stakeholders. This role is responsible for managing supplier issues on day to day basis and knowing the contract(s) well enough to do this quickly and use levers when necessary. This role provides leadership to a team of up to 4 Business Assurance Junior Managers, and up to 10 indirect employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable to the Supplier Assurance Lead and be in contact with them via telephone/emanl on a daily basis and face to face on a weekly basis.
  • Daily and weekly contact with key suppliers to monitor and manage contract performance against service level agreements and KPIs
  • Weekly and daily contact with direct reports to understand performance and progress and issues.

  • Measure performance against Service Level Agreements and KPIs and direct small team to deliver this in various service areas, by implementing and monitoring action or rectification plans where appropriate.
  • Improve customer perceptions of services by building effective strategic relationships with departments and ensuring that they are kept informed and consulted on things that affect them.
  • Key contributor to delivering continuous operational services to approx. 40,000 officers and staff across all business groups, ensuring that our service reflects their needs (including relevant kit, equipment and services) and standards of service are constantly improving
  • Responsible for holding external suppliers to account for performance against KPIs and SLAs. Provide the genuine customer impact of any failures and ensure any service credits charged or action plans are in place.
  • Embracing a culture of data driven decision making and innovation.
  • Reducing risk of reputational damage to MPS through the proactive identification of risks across the directorate and implementation of risk mitigation strategy.

CV Tips

Your CV needs to be current with your most recent role. We won’t be able to submit it with any unexplained gaps in employment. It will save time and improve your chances of success if we can put your CV forward immediately without having to ask for revisions.

Your CV must cover the “Essential Requirements” of the role. Ideally you will address the “Essential Requirements” on each job description page directly, in a bullet point list. Please include any DBS details and other qualifications called for.

Your CV should clearly state that you are available to start work either immediately, or at short notice. In general, our clients are unable to work with notice periods of more than 1 week from the point at which a role is offered, 2 weeks at the very most.

We do not put forward covering letters, so please ensure that your CV in contains all relevant information being called for.

We recommend that you consider sending us a CV suitably tailored CV for each role that you apply for. Job board aggregator sites will generally store only one version of your CV, which can be a bit limiting, so this is to your advantage.
