Hybrid working
In this role you will be responsible for supporting the lawyer allocated with their caseload - drafting c1, c2's, requesting evidence, preparing bundles, attending courts and meetings
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the organisation of their work and caseload and ensure the work meets with any quality standards which may be set to include being responsible for the provision of an accurate court bundle where required.
- Devise and deliver legal training to the Team and Council departments as directed.
- Draft any pleadings, documentation or applications as appropriately delegated and where training and support has been provided.
- Undertake advocacy were directed to do so.
- Have awareness of information governance and confidentiality.
- Undertake their own caseload of matters as delegated by the Principal Lawyer.
- Liaise and communicate with stakeholders to ensure the effective progress and conclusion of cases.
- Liaise with the team’s clients to ensure an effective service is being provided.
- Advise the Principal Lawyer of all significant matters relating to legal/reputational issues for the council.
- Initiate and implement projects or work programmes to meet specific, agreed objectives of the council as allocated by the Principal Lawyer.

Qualifications:
- Degree in law or equivalent qualification or at least 2 years’ experience of legal work gained in a legal setting
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of specific areas of law appertaining to the Specific Responsibilities in the Job Description as set out above.
- Knowledge of the Council’s policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of data protection law and governance particularly with regards to when dealing with sensitive information and court paperwork
- An understanding of local authority procedures, the constitution and the roles of elected members and officers
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to operate effectively in a sensitive political environment.
- Ability to work efficiently with information technology in support of casework and management reporting.
- Ability to research points of law and evidence with guidance.
- Ability to act as advocate and litigate for roles in Children, Adults and Environment
