Temporary Senior Information Officer

Working alongside the incumbent Senior Information Officer and reporting to the Head of Democratic & Information Services, this role offers you an exciting opportunity to support the information governance processes of Liverpool Council. Your work will be varied across the whole range of information governance activity and will include particular focus on support Freedom of Information and Data Protection processes, co-ordinating response processes across all the directorates in the Council and will lead on preparing responses for those requests requiring public interest considerations. You will also work to ensure the Council complies with the associated statutory requirements and deadlines for performance
Key responsibilities:
- To lead on the delivery of technical and legal support services for schools across Liverpool and the City Region under formal Service Level Agreements.
- To assist the Head of Service in provision of technical and advice in respect of the City Council’s Information Governance systems to ensure the ongoing development of policy and compliance frameworks, including support to third party organisations.
- To lead on the co-ordination, delivery and monitoring of information governance services to Liverpool and City Region schools under Service Level Agreement frameworks.
- To support third party organisations and schools through the provision of training, support and technical guidance as required by the contractual commitments of the Information Team.
- To undertake a process of continuous review and work with the Head of Service to review and improve the discharge of information governance functions by the City Council.
- To support the Head of Service in the development and ongoing review of the City Council’s Publication Scheme, Corporate Requests Management Guidance and Corporate Requests Appeal Processes.
- To support the Head of Service in the management, oversight and provision of advice in respect of the City Council’s Information Governance arrangements including compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environment Information Regulations requests and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 for the City Council.
- To assist and support the provision of information, advice and guidance in relation to retention process and compliances with individual’s rights of access.
- To support the Head of Service in the assurance of compliance with Local Government data handling guidelines.
- To liaise on behalf of the City Council in communications with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) as directed by the Head of Service
