Assist a vehicle driver in delivering various functions, meals, van sales etc depending on client’s requirements and to collect money from customers and clients where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in loading the vehicle with various catering or function foods and goods or associated materials and resources using insulated boxes where necessary and ensure everything is secure.
- Ensure at all times customer personal information eg van delivery sheets that contain highly confidential data is kept secured and not left unattended at any time.
- Ensure any Health and Safety equipment issued to the vehicle or themselves is used at all times.
- Present yourself prepared for duty wearing PPE appropriate for duties.
- Maintain at all times customer confidentially and comply with the authority’s code of conduct.
- Undertake routine food hygiene controls that are necessary when delivering meals eg food temperature checks, HACCP requirements.
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and also use the hand cleansing liquid kept on the van whenever necessary.
- When delivering functions, present the food using the correct standards as stipulated by the Cook-in-Charge, place any garnishes, cutlery, crockery, glasses, disposables, doilies, flowers, serviettes etc to ensure the function looks attractive.
- When delivering van sales present the range of goods attractively and methodically on the van for customers to see. Collect money in payment for the goods /snacks / meals, give change where necessary and complete basic paperwork, such as stock control sheets; count money which is then checked daily by the person in charge of the catering unit.
- Return to the base kitchen and assist with emptying the van and clean the inside after use.

Qualifications:
- Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence to drive a Council vehicle to provide Van Driver cover.
- Required to complete CCBC Manual Handling, Customer Care training and Protection of Vulnerable Adults.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the County Borough and the services provided by Catering Services
Experience:
- One years experience of driving (to provide Van Driver cover where required).
Skills & Abilities:
- Able to communicate effectively.
- Able to work with the minimum of supervision.
- Ability to work precisely and effectively under pressure and to deadlines and have a strong sense of purpose.
- Ability to empathise with the needs of the client and understand and respect issues of confidentiality.
