This opening assignment is for 3 months  


Basic DBS disclosure required 

Someone to join night & weekend team who can ensure the security of the hostels by controlling access into the buildings and monitoring CCTV and managing risks to the residents 

Key Responsibilities: 


  • Safeguard the security of the Council owned hostels by controlling access into the buildings.  
  • You will be responsible for monitoring and managing risks to residents.  
  • Monitor and report entries of residents & visitors, and to report all resident contract breaches.  
  • Conduct a security check using CCTV and in house systems to ensure that the person seeking entry is a resident, or authorised visitor of the hostel.  
  • Permit entry to all authorised resident(s) and authorised visitor(s).  
  • Decline entry to all unauthorized resident(s) and visitor(s) Respond to health & safety issues.  
  • Respond to incidents.  
  • Identify and report all necessary repairs to the premises, and any Council owned furnishings, fittings and white goods.  
  • Respond to fire alarm emergencies

  • Has an understanding of homelessness issues 



  • Has experience of controlling access to a building  
  • Has experience of working in a hostel  
  • Has experience of dealing with people with complex needs in difficult situations 


Skills & Abilities: 

  • Good level of IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office applications 
  • Good interpersonal and team working skills and has experience of working in a front line service 
  • Is proactive & highly motivated with the ability to work quickly, accurately and consistently when under pressure
