To deliver comprehensive and effective support for all aspects of programme and project management across, to enable the successful design and delivery of corporate (cross council) projects aligned to the delivery of Corporate priorities.
The Project Support Officer will be expected to undertake a wide variety of tasks across a broad range of projects. These include: communicating with stakeholders; assisting with planning and delivery of current and new projects; meeting support and facilitation; communications and content creation; investigation, analysis and documentation production; and support to services, Accountable Officers and Senior Responsible Officers (SRO’s) in the design and development of effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high quality administrative and project management support to the project team, including business case development, monitoring and maintenance of project plans, preparation of materials, slides and presentations for meetings and workshops, realisation of benefits, and provision of project updates and reporting, milestones and deliverables.
- Identify opportunities to improve and/or simplify business processes and seek to remedy these through the development of options and recommendations, for decision making by the SRO.
- Work with the Project Manager and Subject Matter Experts to design and deliver the project communication plan. This will include the drafting/design of communication and web content for sign off, for example writing video scripts, production of infographics using 365 and workforce updates. The postholder will ensure project communication plans are driven forward, liaising with Corporate Communications Team colleagues to ensure the right channels are used for the messages being conveyed and analysis is undertaken to measure the effectiveness of the plan.
- Undertake research, data collection and analysis in assigned project areas and contribute to the presentation of findings (either verbally or in writing) to the wider project team and key stakeholders.
- Establish consistent, fit for purpose processes and working practices for key project processes such as status reporting, planning, risk/issue management and change control and support the project monitoring and tacking of activities including compiling and reviewing project metrics.
- Appropriately deal with project enquiries in a responsive and professional manner and ensure Teams workspaces and project intranet pages are developed, maintained, organised and comprehensive.
- Support the organisation of physical, online, virtual and hybrid meetings, workshops events and monthly project boards and ensure appropriate follow up action where requested.
- Communicate with relevant stakeholders to provide updates regarding project status and implementation issues, developing and maintain key relationships across Directorates to ensure effective coordination and achievement of project objectives.
- Effectively manage and prioritise multiple project support activities in a high workload and politically sensitive environment.
- To maximise personal productivity, minimise duplication and errors; and manage our information efficiently and securely to reduce risk, though effective use of Office 365 and our internal IT systems and applications

Qualifications:
- Degree level or equivalent NVQ qualification or proven relevant experience of supporting business change.
Knowledge:
