Interim Project Development Officer– Regeneration

This opening assignment is for 6 months

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the administration of major capital and revenue projects from inception to completion. Schemes will vary in types and complexity across the borough. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing several projects including the Woolwich Night-Time Enterprise Zone, High Streets for All, London Living Wage etc.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the management and delivery of complex projects and initiatives.
  • Assist with the procurement and management of consultants and contractors engaged to undertake work.
  • Support Business, Markets and Town Centres management team with the management of projects, maintaining monitoring sheets, reporting on performance, and organising and attending board meetings.
  • Attend sites to check that work has been carried out in accordance with the specification and as advised by the contractor regarding invoices received.
  • Produce and maintain project management documents such as risk registers, project plans, change control notices and update reports.
  • Keep track of the agreed specification and drawings, updating with any agreed changes.
  • Drafting reports to gain approval for the project to proceed, for example Scheme and Project Reports for authorisation by the Director or Cabinet
  • Undertake tasks in accordance with relevant legislative and professional developments and changes.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports on a variety of design and technical matters and advise Committees, public meetings and working parties as required.

Experience & Knowledge / Technical skills

  • Proven experience in managing projects from inception to completion
  • Good knowledge of various external funding regimes and requirements.
  • Produce and maintain project management documents such as project plans, risk registers, monitoring forms change control notices and update reports.
  • Project Management Qualifications
  • Experience of preparing professional, board, cabinet reports and written responses for various stakeholders, including Senior Management and Council officials.

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to lead, coach and develop a team at a local level to deliver team and personal objectives safely and securely to meet our operational plans.
  • Confidence, Proactive & able to challenge.
  • Must be able to collate information for senior management, external claims submissions, monitoring visits and audits with external funders and internal audits.
  • Previous experience within similar setting
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet challenging deadlines and organise workplans.
  • Ability to work with high level internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and good
  • ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
