You’ll be expected to be proactive in identifying and developing further ways in which the team can deliver further commercial value to the group.

This is an exciting time to join the new team on the journey moving forwards. Engaging with the business and based at modern offices in More London Place, you’ll support customers in demonstrating the best value for money and excellent customer service, through compliance with category priorities and contracts, and by actively managing the market place through development of key strategies for supplier and contract management for specified categories of expenditure

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Head of Category Management and Director of Procurement to create organisational excellence in procurement and purchasing.
  • Developing and leading specific strategic sourcing programmes for a defined category e.g Building Services or Corporate Services, contributing significantly to the delivery of allocated procurement projects within specified key markets.
  • Implementing innovative tools for the procurement tool kit such as whole life costing, evaluation templates, standard criteria, commercial management value assessments, assurance assessments and major projects project management.
  • Ensuring the team is seen as a centre of excellence for all procurement legislation, commercial activity and contract management through delivery of best practice.
  • Ensuring contract compliance, pursuing procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets for specified categories of expenditure e.g. Building Services or Corporate Services.
  • Meeting customer requirements by demonstrating the best value for money and excellent customer service, through compliance with category priorities and contracts, and by actively managing the market place through development of key strategies for supplier and contract management for specified categories of expenditure e.g. Building Services or Corporate Services.
  • Developing, motivating and managing the Category Managers across a diverse spend portfolio, in accordance with agreed strategies and processes to optimise Clarion’s procurement spend.
  • Identifying and delivering a significant improvement in value for money and customer satisfaction through a category management approach to managing expenditure.
  • Engaging with senior colleagues to ensure organisational and functional requirements are understood and incorporated into category plans for specified categories of expenditure e.g. Building Services or Corporate Services.
  • Ensuring there is a detailed understanding of the expenditure within the category, suppliers, products and services, the value for money and the existing supplier performance for specified categories of expenditure e.g. Building Services or Corporate Services

Qualifications:

  • CIPS qualification/membership and/or demonstrable professional procurement experience.
  • Procurement/Commercial/Project Management degree or technical background complimented by suitable commercial acumen.

Knowledge:

  • Advanced procurement knowledge comprising of: advanced negotiation skills, knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies, knowledge of supply chain theory, persuading and influencing and interpersonal skills, contract law and dispute resolution, statistical and data analysis skills, knowledge of market areas related to specific work categories, finance and leasing knowledge, business development and marketing plans, business accounting.
  • Knowledge of UK procurement directives and UK legislation, e.g. TUPE, Competition Act, Race Relations, Data Protection, Freedom of Information, or equivalents.
  • Knowledge of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Code of Ethics.
  • Knowledge of procurement directives – can demonstrate previous experience implementing process & procedures and making decisions relating to European law.
  • Category knowledge within the market managed, in all aspects of the market, which also requires engineering knowledge, product knowledge, manufacturing processes, supply chain for specified categories of expenditure e.g. Building Services or Corporate Services. ing of reporting requirements of children’s services to DfE 

Experience:

  • Significant experience of pre and post contract exposure inclusive of product procurement, supplier and contractor management and the application of supplier procurement strategies.
  • Demonstrable experience or knowledge of managing multiple stakeholders and line managing employees.
  • Significant experience in the identification of value engineering opportunities and the preparation and application of accurate and robust procurement documentation inclusive of whole Life Cost analysis.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft packages, Word, PowerPoint & Excel
  • Ability to develop and implement procurement market strategies.
  • Proficient in the use of e-commerce tools, E-tendering, E-auctions.
