Payroll Admin Assistant – Financial Services

Pay Rate: £12.51 per hour PAYE

The purpose of the role is to assist with the accurate data entry of payroll information into the council's payroll system within agreed timetables.  The successful candidate will be responsible for post payroll checking and will be expected to understand the statutory payroll rules.

Key responsibilities:

  • Updating and maintaining payroll records.
  • Checking payroll data entered by other payroll staff.
  • Checking payroll output reports following the payroll.
  • General payroll administration.
  • Other payroll or pension related tasks as identified.
  • SSP and absence calculations VS HR absence reports
  • Issuing P45's.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  2. Experience of working in 'payroll'.
  3. Accurate and speedy data entry skills.
  4. Sound knowledge of tax, NICs and pensions.
  5. Understand the end to end payroll processes.
  6. Customer focused and understand the confidentiality aspects of the service,
  7. Confident with the use of IT and be keen to use the latest technology, as you will be using the Oracle EBS HR/Payroll system on a daily basis as well as Microsoft Office applications and outlook
  8. Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  9. Good verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills in order to be able to communicate effectively with our internal departments and respond to supplier enquiries.
