This role is a 5 in 7 role, working shifts that range from 6:30am to 10pm. It includes weekend and bank holiday working.
The purpose of the role is to ensure customers comply with the conditions of parking e.g. though payment of offered payment methods and return by expiry time of tickets. This is done through effective enforcement, ensuring maximisation of the Council’s assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Issue penalties to vehicles in an offence position, utilising any technology provided. As technology evolves it will be expected the post holder will adapt their methods of enforcement accordingly.
- Ensure that individual performance is maintained by actively engaging with the service management in 121’s
- Complete penalties accurately ensuring error rates are minimised.
- Comply with all audit requirements when issuing penalties.
- Demonstrate high levels of customer service.
- Work efficiently ensuring maximum compliance within car parks.
- Engage with management to ensure that any cost savings and efficiencies are explored.
- To be flexible to work a variety of shifts. There is a requirement that, on occasion shifts will be changed at short notice.
- Assist with the minor maintenance of car park premises and equipment. This will include the maintenance of pay machines, filling them with tickets.
- Ability to defuse difficult customers.
- Report health and safety issues, and where possible make safe.
- Assist with the locking/unlocking of car parks and buildings as necessary and to assist with the operations of any car park.

Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Experience of working in a customer focussed environment
- Ability to make and justify decisions with regard to enforcement duties
- The ability to work in a team and independently using own initiative.
- This role involves a considerable amount of walking, so a high level of fitness is required to perform this role.
- Able to work shift patterns with flexibility to do additional/alternative shifts (with reasonable notice) to cover operational requirements.
- IT literate, to operate and fault diagnose ANPR and Enforcement systems.
