Hybrid working. Positions available across three teams based in Ollerton. Sutton in Ashfield and Arnold.

The role largely entails working directly with parents, children and young people to deliver time limited interventions to support families. This could include helping them to build routines and boundaries, deal with family conflict and reduce safeguarding concerns.

Families are normally open to either Social Care or another Lead Professional who has completed a family assessment and have requested some direct work with the family. The role can also involve assessments of parenting for adult with a learning disability. Parent and Family Worker also help to deliver evidence based parenting groups and programmes such as Solihull Parenting, Non-Violent Resistance or 123 Magic. Or a range of workshops focused on parenting children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work to deliver the targets set down in the service and team business plan
  • Complete specialist assessments of children, young people, parents, carers and families in line with service guidance
  • Plan and deliver structured packages graduated parenting interventions to children, young people, parents, carers and families in line with service guidance
  • Keep timely and accurate records of work, including running records and the entry of data as specified
  • Attend Multi agency meetings
  • Communicate effectively with allocated lead professionals
  • Attend team meetings and whole Service events.
  • Work with children, young people and families in settings including the family home, and to transport them when required with due regard to health and safety guidance.

Qualifications:

  • Hold 5 GCSEs at level A*-C (including English) or equivalent
  • Full driving licence (unless registered disabled)

Knowledge:

  • An understanding of child development, effective parenting and attachment theory

Exeperience:

  • A minimum of two years experience of working with children, young people and their families (either paid or voluntary)
  • Experience of delivering groupwork in a variety of settings
  • Experience of undertaking specialist parenting assessments
  • Experience of managing challenging situations

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to gain the agreement and acceptance of others including colleagues, senior managers and customers.
  • Information technology skills including use of databases and word processing.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems to meet operational targets, involving devising solutions and prioritising the resources available.
  • Ability to meet agreed objectives and delivery targets by the effective use of resources.
