Full Job Title: Temporary Market Operative x3 - Facilities

Job Reference: W Cheshire 5218775

Pay Rate: £10.59 per hour PAYE

Responsible for the general cleanliness and security of Council Markets and perimeter areas.

  • Responsibility for the cleanliness of the market premises, facilities and surrounding areas.
  • To ensure refuse is disposed of regularly and all receptacles cleaned accordingly.
  • Assist in the cleaning of the common areas in the Council Markets including public / trader / staff toilets, lifts, kitchens and offices.
  • To carry out any minor repairs to the building or equipment
  • Assist in the security of the market to include locking and unlocking. To attend emergency call out as and when required.
  • To use and maintain all powered cleaning machinery.
  • To assist in the preparation for the days trading including the erecting, moving or dismantling of stalls.
  • To report any works require to the building and to advise senior market officers of requirements related to the maintenance / cleaning of the market.
  • To assist in the collection of stall rents if required.
  • To report any breaches of the Market Rules and Regulations and to advise senior market officers of any concerns regarding members of the public or traders.
  • To regularly patrol the market floor and monitor cleanliness
  • To provide cover at any Cheshire West and Chester market as and when required.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the role or at the request to the Lead Market Officer.

  2. Experience:
  3. Experience in a customer service role
    1. Experience of working as part of a team
    2. Evidence of working in a retail environment - desirable
    3. Caretaking or housekeeping background – desirable
    4. Using cleaning equipment and products – desirable
  4. Working knowledge of health and safety practices – desirable
  5. Skills & Abilities:
    1. Display interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive relationships with tenants and team that generates respect and trust.
    2. Apply ownership and accountability which is performance and customer driven
    3. Oral and written skills
