Temporary Learning and Development Administrative Assistant

Pay Rate: £11.05 per hour PAYE

The purpose of the role is to provide professional learning and development administrative support to the Learning and Development Partners, service managers. To co-ordinate and monitor the delivery of Directorate learning and development plans.

This role will require strong organisation, communication and time management skills. To provide timely support to the Learning and Development Partners for course management, finance, relationship management with suppliers and other stakeholders, responding to learning and development queries from internal and external stakeholders, procurement, delivery and evaluation of learning programmes and projects, incorporating best practice and maximising digital learning and new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work across learning and development with a flexible approach and be supportive to work with colleagues.
  • Undertake a range of duties as specified by line managers and supervisors to assist the efficient operation of activities across corporate and social care learning and development.
  • Communicate effectively and respond to both internal and external customer enquiries using a range of communication methods including telephone, email, letter or face-to-face sensitively and efficiently.
  • Liaise with colleagues from other departments and external organisations to develop and deliver high quality training services.
  • Maximise the use of information technology and digital platforms to when undertaking learning and development tasks.
  • Maintain an accurate and up to date record of learning and development activities within specified areas.
  • Ensure that all tasks are completed to agreed timescales, standards of accuracy and presentation.
  • Undertake research and report on findings for specific development activities, supporting the Organisation Transformation work programme.
  • Be a team player within our L&D team, and develop close working relationships across the council.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  2. Experience of working on own initiative, organise workloads, determine priorities and meet deadlines.
  3. Previous experience working in fast passed environment.
  4. Experience of composing written materials that meet customers’ needs.
  5. Numeracy skills in order to compile simple statistical and financial information and undertake complex calculations.
  6. Good verbal and written communication skill.
  7. ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
