CTC vetting required for this role
Candidates with current CTC clearances will go through their vetting processes, currently this is taking up to 6 months. If you are already in a contract that potentially is not ending for a few months and this role is of interest, do let us know, we would be happy to discuss further.
The successful candidate will support, advise and develop Trainee Detectives from a variety of policing backgrounds. As part of a dedicated Learning and Development team for TDCs, they will coach and mentor each officer to complete the PIP 2 DC Programme successfully and pass on everything they have learned in their own career as a Detective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet all new officers and induct them onto the programme — agreeing a contract with them and setting monthly development meetings to discuss progress and impart professional knowledge.
- Ensure that notes of meetings, agreed actions and plans are open to scrutiny and allow for accountability.
- Develop optimal performance of the officer, review and discuss incidents with them to support critical thinking skills to decide how incidents, crime scenes, investigations have gone and how they might approach similar situations in the future.
- Work with line managers to gain a rounded view of needed development and learning.
- provide ‘in the moment’ support and guidance, facilitating officers’ activities by providing professional knowledge and guidance in a coaching style. Examples of such TDC activities would include planning investigations, court appearances, taking of witness statements, recorded interviews, liaising with external partner agencies and more. These coaching inputs may take place in police buildings or with the TDC as they carry out these activities in live time away from the office.

CV Tips
Your CV needs to be current with your most recent role. We won’t be able to submit it with any unexplained gaps in employment. It will save time and improve your chances of success if we can put your CV forward immediately without having to ask for revisions.
Your CV must cover the “Essential Requirements” of the role. Ideally you will address the “Essential Requirements” on each job description page directly, in a bullet point list. Please include any DBS details and other qualifications called for.
Your CV should clearly state that you are available to start work either immediately, or at short notice. In general, our clients are unable to work with notice periods of more than 1 week from the point at which a role is offered, 2 weeks at the very most.
We do not put forward covering letters, so please ensure that your CV in contains all relevant information being called for.
We recommend that you consider sending us a CV suitably tailored CV for each role that you apply for. Job board aggregator sites will generally store only one version of your CV, which can be a bit limiting, so this is to your advantage.
