The successful candidates will operate as Technical Expert for Microsoft technologies within what is known as the Technical Delivery team. They will be the focal point for technical expertise within the team and have day-to-day responsibility for ensuring work within the team is carried out to a high technical standard that aligns with the processes already in place.

One of the successful candidates will be responsible for the assessment and deployment of Modern Desktop solution architecture. The organisation currently has an existing endpoint management solution in the form of Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) and Endpoint Manager (Intune).

Currently MECM is responsible for the management of Windows 10 devices while EM is responsible for Android and iOS devices. The candidate would be required to review and plan the migration of the current estate of Windows 10 devices to the EM modern management platform, including the migration of on-premises policies, software applications and compliance baselines to co- management. Additionally, the migration away from Windows 10 to AutoPilot deployed, Endpoint Managed instances of Windows 11.

Candidates can demonstrate the ability to design, implement, administer and support infrastructure technologies, solutions and services. These can include computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial-off-the-shelf software (COTS), and open source packages and solutions. They can also include virtual and cloud computing such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS).

Technical experience:

  1. Modern Desktop Management Pathway.
  2. SME experience of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (On-premise) & Endpoint Manager (Cloud Service).
  3. Active Directory / Azure Active Directory Hybrid Join.
  4. Azure Conditional Access / MFA Desirable Experience.
  5. Operating System Deployment (Autopilot) – Windows 10 / 11.
  6. Application Packaging / Deployment via Endpoint Manager.
  7. Endpoint Policy Management.
  8. Compliance control via Endpoint Manager
  9. Demonstrable practical knowledge of PowerShell is expected. Examples of the use of
  10. PowerShell to automate or expedite fixes, along with other forms of automation to deliver bespoke solutions.


General IT Systems Management Experience:

  1. Active Directory User and Device Management.
  2. Expert knowledge in Group Policy management and administration.
  3. Comprehensive experience of Windows Server (2012 – 2022)/ Client operating systems (Windows 10/11).
  4. Experience with Cloud based email Services (Exchange Online).
  5. Contribute to IT infrastructure related security, maintenance, performance, capacity and lifecycle management.
  6. Manage and administer the PKI infrastructures and digital certificates.
  7. Liaise with third parties and vendors.
  8. Strong custom PowerShell scripting and automation.
  9. Experience of VMware virtualised infrastructure administration and networking.


Skills & Abilities:

  1. Demonstrable autonomy, often working through tasks where the desired outcome is known, but the technological solution is not – using experience and research to evaluate, recommend, and implement long-lasting and efficient solutions.
  2. Ability to knowledge-share and upskill colleagues to ensure more people can support more of the systems around them – combatting silos and human resource single points of failure. Where complex or bespoke responses to needs have been implemented, ensure that these are well-understood to avoid increased risk when failure occurs after key technical staff have moved on.
  3. Excellent organisational and time management skills
  4. Robust understanding of project management and organisational change management disciplines such as PRINCE2 and ITIL.
  5. Good communication skills around guidance and influence that adapt to all level of stakeholder.
