What's involved with this role:

Interim Publications Officer – Corporate Communications

Contribute to the production of the council's printed and online publications, which include Hillingdon People (residents’ magazine) team Hillingdon (staff newspaper) and other publications such as the Hillingdon People Locals, council tax booklet, arts brochures, annual reports and any other corporate publications as required.

Produce email marketing newsletters for internal and external audiences and contribute to campaigns marketing and internal communications projects as required.


Specific Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  1. Qualifications:
    1. A relevant degree or professional qualification or -
    2. Educated to A-level and some experience in journalism, writing or editing magazines.
  2. Experience:
    1. Relevant experience of working within a print, production, communications, marketing, journalism or other public relations environment
    2. Experience of design and desktop publishing
  3. Knowledge & Skills:
    1. Able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision, and be able to work as part of a wider team
    2. Understanding of digital communications channels and be able to use these to maximum effect
    3. Knowledge of print and production practices, including online information system and distribution mechanisms
    4. Knowledge of Desktop Publishing and current design methods
    5. Ability to handle sensitive issues/information in a positive and diplomatic way
    6. Ability to work within predetermined budgets
    7. Ability to support marketing campaigns to target appropriate audiences
    8. Able to use photographs creatively and advise on appropriate images
  4. ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite)
