Interim Project Officer – Housing, Benefits & Planning

Hybrid role: 2 days in the office
Note: the pay rate is provisional only and the ad will be amended with the confirmed rate, once received.
The post holder may need to attend evening and weekend meetings (eg committees & events within the borough)
To manage and support projects with a focus on the production of the Local Plan and other spatial planning documents and projects on time, to a high quality and to budget, as set out in the Local Plan Programme. This includes the consultation, communication plans and activities needed for continuous engagement of interested parties in the Local Plan and any planning documents.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of allocated projects in the Local Plan programme.
- Report on a range of Local Development Documents, Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP), masterplans and conservation matters and planning obligations.
- Provide highlight reports on the financial and risk management of allocated project budgets.
- Support the production of the Local Plan and SPDs that promote the strengths of the area as a place to live and work.
- Support fee-earning projects in the field of Spatial Planning.
- Keeping subscribers to the Local Plan database regularly informed of progress in the involvement and production of Local Plan programme.

Qualifications & Knowledge:
- Relevant RTPI approved qualifications, skills, knowledge and competence in spatial planning to qualify for RTPI membership.
- Understanding of current issues & developments affecting planning, regeneration & local government
- Policy: understanding of main central government, strategic & development plan policy issues
- Law: understanding of spatial planning legislation
- Understanding of the operation of local government
Experience & Skills:
- Understanding of member - officer relations and conduct at public meetings.
- Providing a commercial service to fee-paying clients.
- Writing: display general level of ability in letter & report writing; exhibit a clear & comprehensible writing style.
- Basic appreciation of visual and aesthetic concepts.
- Ability to read and scale drawings and appreciation of urban design skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with excellent time management skills.
