Full Job Title: Interim Project Manager – Homes for Ukraine

Hybrid Role
In March 2022, in response to the war in Ukraine and humanitarian crisis, the government established new visa routes - principally the Homes for Ukraine scheme and the Ukraine Family Visa scheme - to enable those fleeing the conflict to come to the UK. Local Authorities are responsible for the administration of the Homes for Ukraine visa scheme which includes undertaking in person checks of the sponsor accommodation, DBS checks and where there are children or vulnerable adults ensuring that safeguarding visits are completed. Councils are also asked to support Ukrainians settle through school admissions, sign posting to work and benefits services, wider health service referrals, community integration and homelessness assistance.
A Project Manager with strong project management skills is required who is confident to get on with their work, proactive, seeing a gap and proposing how to fill it, willing to learn on the job and ask questions. The work of the team is varied and fast-paced so we are looking for an experienced and highly organised individual who can manage competing priorities and work independently and as part of a team. You will need to be empathetic with our service users and able to use your initiative when dealing with queries
The post holder will work with various partners across the council, that are working with the sponsors and/or the people coming from Ukraine to develop valuable and effective working relationships, which will ensure people coming from Ukraine under this scheme are fully supported.

- Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience (preferably in a relevant discipline)
- Strong project management/research training or on the job experience supplemented with relevant training (PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent PM qualification)

- A clear understanding of the principles of effective project management
- Ability to monitor and evaluate project work in order to facilitate the achievement of project objectives while ensuring projects are kept to agreed timescales and budgets.
- It is essential that you have an agile and flexible approach to your work with a willingness to do what needs to be done to ensure the Homes for Ukraine scheme delivers its intended outcomes.
- It is desirable that you have a good knowledge of council services and departments to enable effective ongoing co-ordination and development across the council of this high profile programme of work and experience of working with community groups.
- ICT Skills: Competent user of MS Office tools, including MS Project and Visio
