Interim Project Manager - Climate Change and Sustainability

Pay Rate: £200 per day PAYE
A Project Manager is required to manage and deliver complex and multiple projects simultaneously across the Environmental and Leisure departmental such as service reviews, service improvement, Southwark Stands Together projects and staff wellbeing initiatives.
The post holder will ensure that projects are delivered within the scope constraints, quality, and financial and responsible for supporting the head of the service with project reporting and the production of all project-related artefacts.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning, managing, co-ordinating and reporting on activities to implement one or more projects from proposal to initiation to delivery including the transition into “business-as-usual”.
- Collaborates with directors and head of services to ensure projects are delivered to scope, within budget and to agreed timeframes, prioritising the work that needs to be done against the capacity.
- Understands and interprets the business objectives, goals and targets into a tangible deliverable that is sustainable after the project ends.
- Determines most suitable approach to meet business goals, including adoption of any formal project methodology.
- Works in conjunction with the Head of Programmes and Change to create a robust Business case and Benefits plan.
- Collaborates with internal and external suppliers to ensure that the business gets best value from its change programme of work.
- Prepare and present reports including recommendations, for the head of service on outcomes of research and monitoring as well as proposals linked to delivery of all projects in their remit.
- Manage projects to agreed vision, objectives, and success criteria and manages progress against them.
- Manage project budget including ensuring that resources are allocated in the most effective way.
- Resolves any issues affecting the project and takes remedial action. Develops quality plans. Collating any lessons learned to improve future projects and embed best practice.
- Working within a governance framework, providing appropriate controls, and reporting on project progress, benefits and achievements in a timely and efficient manner.
- Produce executive level and team status updates that highlight risks/ assumptions/ issues and dependencies, clearly and concisely.
- Draft, submit and manage project budgets as required to deliver projects.

Qualifications/Knowledge:
- Agile methodology, scrum master or PRINCE2 certified or equivalent by experience.
- A good understanding of project delivery experience in a modern local government organisation(s) - including change management.
- A good understanding of organisational redesign and the issues facing directorates in local government, going through change.
- Knowledge of a variety of project management tools, methodologies, and best practice. e.g., Agile or Prince 2.
- A good understanding of working on change management projects and how to maintain appropriate documentation including process maps and change requests.
Experience:
- Experience working, through the full project life cycle from inception to completion, including transition to a new Operating Model for affected staff.
- Experience of producing project management protocols, initiating documents, reports and managing risk and finances for a variety of audiences.
- An experienced people leader, able to inspire, unite and motivate a diverse team.
- Experience in building strong and sustaining relationships with stakeholders.
Skills/Technical skills:
- Ability to persuade, convince, influence, and make a positive impression.
- Competent in simplifying complex ideas and changes and communicating them to staff across all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to vary delivery style based on audience.
- Strong decision maker and programme management skills.
- Able to engage clearly and confidently with all internal and external stakeholders, in a variety of communication formats.
- Demonstrates creativity and innovation in solution finding and achieving initiatives.
