What's involved with this role:

Interim Project Manager - Building Services & Maintenance

DBS required (Level TBC)

The postholder will be responsible for the planning and execution of projects including planning, designing, executing and monitoring.

Key responsibilities:

  • Review contract documentation including drawings, specifications and contract conditions
  • Advise upon the practical implications of implementing the designs and draw attention to any areas for improvement
  • Inspect construction works for compliance with contract documentation, contract instructions and good practice
  • Inspect construction works for compliance with statutory regulations e.g. Highway Specification, CDM Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act and Control of Asbestos Regulations
  • Keep appropriate records of conditions and progress on site
  • Ensure records are comprehensive and well-structured so as to assist with the administration of the contract
  • Liaise with residents and resident groups to address any areas of dissatisfaction for example by recording concerns about site cleanliness and advising the contractor of the remedial measures required
  • Carry out inspections to record any defects which become apparent after the completion of works and pass those records to the appropriate person as identified within the contract

Experience & Knowledge / Technical skills

  • Experienced in initiating projects, planning, delegating, managing and risk mitigating in the sector
  • Degree-level qualification in building or relevant construction based professional qualification
  • Experience of managing significant budgets
  • Excellent knowledge of construction and construction contracts
  • Good knowledge of project and project management methods including MSP, PRINCE2, Association of Project Managers (APM) and/or Project Management Institute (PMI).


Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent prioritisation and problem-solving skills
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective presentational skills, confident with large and potentially difficult audiences
  • Ability to write clear reports on financial and technical matters
  • ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite)
