Full Job Title: Interim Learning Technologist – IT Services

The college is at a pivotal moment in the development of their programme of education and currently setting out on an ambitious programme of work aimed at transforming the delivery of teaching, learning, and assessment to a flexible model of delivery.

Driving this transition will be a pedagogical shift into a more collaborative and social approach to teaching and learning that is inclusive, engaging, and underpinned by an extended ecosystem of learning technologies.

The post holder will be a subject matter expert (SME) in various aspects of TEL and play a key role in the provision of pedagogically-informed technical capabilities and procedures for adopting and embedding TEL to meet the requirements of the College’s transformative vision for teaching and learning. The TEL ecosystem comprises core technologies—such as the latest version of Moodle, Turnitin, Panopto, and MS Teams—in addition to multiple 3rd party apps, which this post will be maintaining and supporting.

The post holder will be a proactive team player with a creative, problem-solving mind-set and passion for technology enhanced learning (TEL). This role will involve working in close collaboration with staff in Schools and Support services on cross-college activities to support teaching, learning, and assessment. Additionally, the role holder will be providing customer support and training for the College’s learning technologies.

This post is based in IT Services with the Research, Teaching and Learning Applications Team and will heavily support the work of the Interim Head of the RTL Team in the pedagogical and technological implementation of the College’s transformative vision.


Specific Role Requirements” – to give yourself the maximum chance of success please try and ensure your CV addresses the following essential criteria:

  1. Qualifications:
    1. Undergraduate qualification in a learning technology related area or experience in a learning technology or related role.
    2. Have obtained or are working towards CMALT, HEA membership, or related post-graduate qualification in Digital Education or E-Learning - desirable
  2. Experience:
    1. Excellent customer service skills and experience of managing enquiries and requests from a range of service users.
    2. Experience of communicating with stakeholders at various levels within an organisation.
    3. Experience in working with a variety of learning technologies including Moodle at sysadmin level
    4. Experience of producing training and guidance materials.
    5. Experience of writing technical documentation.
    6. Experience of designing and delivering 121 and small group training face-to-face and remotely.
    7. Experience of creating and managing multimedia learning assets
  3. ICT Skills: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite)
