Interim HR Business Partner

You will support HR Senior Business Partners in the delivery of People Plans, with a focus on change, but managing HR and change issues and very complex situations across Directorates and working with other specialist teams to deliver objectives. You will develop a professional, accurate and customer focused HR service under limited guidance   

Key Responsibilities: 


  • Works with the business to ensure that it has the appropriate capacity, capability and engagement levels for the short-, medium- and long-term horizons and creates an engaging work environment. 
  • Drives HR and Organisational Change programmes and initiatives within Directorates and/or Services. 
  • Supports the delivery of talent management, succession and high performance and potential strategies and processes.  
  • Delivers consultation with Trade Unions, as necessary, in support of the Directorates and HR Senior Business Partners.  
  • Supports the day-to-day operational delivery of People Plans and activities, defined and led by specialist HR teams and HR Senior Business Partners.  
  • Supervises (often by matrix management) a small group of colleagues in order to deliver outcomes, allocating and checking work and providing development and coaching as required. 
  • Supports directorates with resourcing requirements, interviews, etc.

  • Level 5 CIPD qualification or equivalent 
  • Previous Fire & Rescue experience 
  • Experience of analysing workforce data, presenting KPI reports on ER/HR case management data and trends to senior managers within the Fire Service 
  • Experience of engaging managers in development of talent and capability 
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills with good computer literacy for delivering a variety of tasks 
  • Ability to anticipate problems, plan solutions and make sound pragmatic problem-solving decisions which will have a significant impact for a service or the organisation, particularly in relation to capacity, capability, flexibility and engagement 
  • Ability to think laterally and to adapt to changing situations in a measured and flexible manner in order to adapt the advice and guidance provided to suit any change in circumstance whether legislative, structural, partnership related etc
