Interim Head of Housing and Area Management

Pay Rate: £24.13 per hour PAYE
A Head of Service is required to be responsible for the development and implementation of a revised Community Area Forum planning procedure.
You will provide updates in the form of reports to Elected Members at the Community Area Forum and meet teams and Members regularly to review the progress of schemes and conduct site visits.
Key responsibilities:
- Work with Elected and Board Members, communities, colleagues, and partners to deliver outstanding, pro-active and responsive housing and area management services.
- Ensure the service provides the highest quality of customer care and focus, through a positive can-do culture with an outcome based approach to achieving agreed priorities and targets within the service areas.
- Ensure that performance standards and targets are in place and are understood by staff and that effective monitoring, review and continuous development processes are in place.
- Lead, manage and co-ordinate the delivery of an integrated approach to housing, housing plus and area management, in particular cleaner, safer and greener services in neighbourhoods.
- Promote and help to achieve the company’s commitment to sustainable communities via responsive area and estate-based services that are consistently excellent.
- Act as the main point of contact for the Housing and Area Management services within the management area.
- Lead the culture which delivers co-ordinated proactive tenure blind estate-based services in line with clear service standards and challenging performance targets to improve services for tenants and residents.
- Develop a customer centric service built on engagement and feedback with tenants and residents.
- Maintain expert knowledge of legislation, regulation, and good practice, ensuring our duty is met and that our older residents live in a safe and happy environment.
- Monitor the Housing Plus units within your area to ensure they are being run efficiently, within budget, meeting legal requirements and following guidance.

Qualifications/Knowledge:
- Hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and/or appropriate professional experience or willing to work towards a degree.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Thorough knowledge of legislation and best practice relating to Housing Management, Housing Plus, Area Management including Community Safety and Tenancy Enforcement.
- Must demonstrate an awareness and understanding of equality issues.
Experience:
- Experience of working in an area management, housing plus, community safety, tenancy services and/or social housing at a senior management level.
- Experience of multi-agency working.
- Experience of budget management.
- Experience of successful management of a team.
- Experience of change management.
- Experience of improving services and performance for stakeholders.
- Experience of clear leadership skills, developing both teams and individuals.
- Evidence of involving customers in all aspects of service delivery and ability to identify and measure the outcomes of participation.
Skills/Technical skills:
- High level of communication consultation skills, including the ability to present written or verbal information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to develop effective working relationship with all stakeholders.
- IT literate and able to use a range of IT packages as an analytical and management tool.
- Ability to forward plan and prioritise and review to meet the services objectives/targets.
- Ability to generate ideas and practical solutions to contribute to the vision and to meet changing demands.
- Clear leadership skills, which inspire, empower, motivate, and develop teams and individuals.
