The role of the Governance and Reporting Specialist is to manage and control governance activities in the project to enable effective management and decision-making. The post holder will work with stakeholders and ensure timely, consistent and accurate data collection, analysis and reporting on project progress and delivery confidence.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders to agree a governance and reporting structure and embed maintain the portfolio drumbeat.
  • Establish governance and reporting landscape by understanding and communicating the organisation’s governance pathways – driving appropriate use of boards and build governance into the project cycle.
  • Analysis and challenge of data in the reports by presenting reports at relevant boards.
  • Develop and agree tolerances, escalation triggers and investment gateways.
  • Provision of management information support to governance boards.
  • Set knowledge and information processes that conforms with the organisation’s standards.
  • Quality assure and challenge the project/business to follow the agreed processes.
  • Disseminate lessons learned within project and wider community
  • Provide support to the programme’s directorate in the use of the ITBM tool (single source of truth).

  • Experience of undertaking a range of governance and reporting work or similar in a local government or similar organisation or body.
  • Experience of developing or working on policies, procedures and plans to support organisational objectives.
  • Good working knowledge of the processes and procedures applicable to the administration of the governance arrangements of a large organisation, political awareness and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality and security of information in reference to relevant legislation.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to advise confidently and capably on governance matters, including processes, timeframes and status of reports and decisions.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to analyse available information to propose effective solutions.
