This role is for a leading London Police organisation, candidates with current CTC/SC clearances will go through their vetting processes, currently this is taking up to 6 months.  If you are already in a contract that potentially is not ending for a few months and this role is of interest, do let us know, we would be happy to discuss further.

The post holder’s primary role will be to undertake the following learning programmes within the organisation’s Training structure, to provide on-going and long-term high quality professional learning and developmental opportunities to all officers and staff to assist individuals to meet their individual potential and deliver training to the highest possible standard.

Key accountabilities:

  • All assessments of Emergency Life Support Instructors (ELSI), at all levels across the organisation.
  • TTT courses to enable ELSIs to deliver the full range of Emergency Life Support foundation and refresher courses for police officers and police staff.
  • Assist with the training and assessment of both students and instructors attending / delivering Enhanced Emergency Life Support Courses for Firearms and Public Order Medics in accordance with the policy set by Head of Profession Emergency Life Support.
  • Delivery of the prerequisite number of ELS classes to students in order to maintain ELSI status.
  • Assessment of learning, administration and logistical work in support of learning programme delivery.
  • Maintain ELS Instructor status in line with ACPO & College of Policing guidelines and policies.

  • Experience as an Enhanced ELS instructor.
  • Successful completion of an ELS Trainers Course (desirable).
  • Successful completion of an MPS Trainers Foundation Course (or equivalent) or a willingness to undertake such training.
  • External training qualification - PTLLS, Certificate in Education or equivalent, or higher (degree level) - (desirable)
  • A1 and / or V1 Assessor qualification or equivalent - (desirable)
  • First Aid at Work trained.



  • Experience in relation to Emergency Life Support matters
  • Previous experience in training Emergency Life Support trainers for the organisation (desirable).
  • Delivery of learning programmes and presentations internally outside of the organisation (desirable).
  • Addressing or facilitation of diverse groups (desirable).
  • Assessment of learning and / or learning programme delivery (desirable).


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Good level of knowledge in relation to Emergency Life Support procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of other Emergency Life Support related programmes.
  • Communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to assess student learning and understanding - (both formal and informally).
  • Ability to develop, tutor and coach individuals and teams, in a timely manner, to support student and group learning - (personal and professional development)
  • Ability to manage the welfare needs of students.
  • Proficient IT skills - (primarily PowerPoint, Word and Excel).
  • Use of technology to support learning programmes - (projectors, SmartBoards, printers, etc.)
