Interim Educational Psychologist

An experienced Educational Psychologist is required to provide the LA with Psychological Advice for Education, Health, and Care Needs Assessments.
Key responsibilities:
- Work with individual children, teachers and other adults in schools, families and other local authority officers and partner agencies to contribute to the best outcomes for the children and young people in the area.
- Support schools to deliver the graduated approach for children, young people and young adults aged 0-25, who may have Special Educational Needs, through systemic work, casework, delivering training and with knowledge of evidence informed interventions.
- Support others about whom there may be a concern as outlined in the Code of Practice 2014.
- Carry out psychological assessments as part of the Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment.

Qualifications:
- A degree in Psychology or recognised equivalent, which entitles the holder to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society and HPC.
Experience/Knowledge:
- Experience gained through previous/current employment as an EP role.
- Experience of working with professionals from other agencies.
- An in-depth knowledge of the statutory framework which guides the work of educational psychologists.
Skills/Technical skills:
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to enthuse and motivate others and develop effective partnerships. Positive approach to people and situations and an ability to develop enthusiasm, resilience, and optimism in others.
- Able to work with teachers and other practitioners to support the development of children and young people.
- Able to work with schools and other settings on projects involving groups of children and on policies impacting upon whole institutions.
- Good communication skills, both in writing and orally, to professional colleagues and to others with clarity and sensitivity.
- Able to assess the abilities and achievements of children and young people by means of a range of measures including specific assessment tools.
